Good Morning SMRA Families,
In light of recent updates from the Government, the PRC has shared with all ice users the following: (1) That masks must be worn at all times except when players and bench staff are on the ice. (2) Anyone over the age of 18 -players, bench staff, volunteers and spectators must show proof of vaccination to enter the facility.
The only exemption is for players 11 and younger and those individuals who can provide a medical note of exemption and a negative test less than 48 hours old. Because there is some confusion over the age bracket of 12-18, the implementation date and what the logistics of this looks like for minor sports, we are meeting with Town officials next week to hopefully get more answers. We understand that this is not how we wanted to start the season and the Town’s/Ministry’s policy may impact decisions regarding registration, coaching and volunteering with the association. We have also reached out to Ontario Ringette and awaiting further information.
As this is a government mandate pertaining to facilities, our hands are tied. Please reach out if your plans have changed or if you have questions.
I recognize the uncertainty and concerns that these changes may create for members, but thought it best to share with you what we know now and update the details as they become known.
Our plan is still to step on the ice next week and at this point, in order to join us, you only need to complete the health check using the RAMP app
As always please reach out with any questions.
Happy long weekend!
Kim Garniss, President
St Marys Ringette Association
