Important season update

Jan. 13, 2021

Good Morning Members,

This was not the news that I was hoping to send to you. It comes with sadness that I share the town’s decision to remove both ice pads effective immediately. This news followed the announcement yesterday by Doug Ford. With rising COVID numbers and an extension of the lockdown, we too will do our part to stay home and flatten the curve.

The executive has scheduled an emergency meeting for Monday, January 18 via Zoom to discuss our next steps. Specifically, we will focus on refunds and jersey collection. In light of the announcements, some parts may take a little time to arrange safely. Please know we will be working hard to come up with a good plan on these matters and following the meeting, I will provide more details.

I am sad to see this season come to an end but I am truly grateful for this amazing executive and the whole St Marys Association. We managed to create a plan that allowed our players and coaches to step safely on the ice to practice their skills and then put them in action in modified game play. We all learned how to adapt to the COVID rules and protocols and cheered our players on from home, watching the live stream when we couldn’t attend in person.

My heartfelt thanks to our coaches, managers and trainers as well as the parents and players themselves for the hours put in. This season, while cut short, was still a great one! Stay well and we will be in touch.

Kim
