President Update December 8

Dec. 08, 2020

Hi Everyone,

Can you believe we are entering the second week of December?  I know I sure can’t!

Last night we held our Executive Meeting and I just wanted to share a couple of updates with you:

Lottery

  • A reminder the lottery will be drawn on December 21 at 7:00 PM live on Facebook from Joe’s Diner.  Each winner will need to send a picture of the winning ticket stub to verify its authenticity.

Bottle Drive

  • The bottle drive originally scheduled for January 9, has been postponed until March.  We thought it best for the safety of our members to avoid unnecessary contact at this time.  Hopefully things improve enough by spring to move forward with this profitable fundraiser.

Holiday Shutdown

  • As mentioned in my email of November 11, there will be a complete two week shutdown over the Christmas Holidays. Ringette Ontario has mandated the break effective December 24 - January 10.  Therefore, our last ice time will be December 22 and we will start up again January 12.

2nd Registration Payment

  • At the start of the season, we decided to split the 2020-2021 registration fee into two instalments.  The first was due in October, the second is due next week. Due to higher ice costs and our mandate to remain affordable for families, we will continue to use a portion of our reserves to offset these costs. The PRC requires us to commit to ice and sign the contract for ice: January to the end of March as soon as possible. Therefore, we ask that you submit your outstanding balance to us by December 15.
    • FUN1 division is $200
    • U10-U19 divisions are $300
    • For multiple player families, please refer to our registration page on our website for fees
  • eTransfer works best and can be sent to:  treasurer@stmarysringette.ca  Please include the player(s) name and division(s) in the memo line. Unfortunately, we cannot extend this deadline as we need to secure and pay for our ice for the remainder or the season.  Subsequently, failure to remit payment will result in the withdrawal from the Association. If you are having financial difficulties, please contact myself or our Treasurer to explore options.

Association Feedback

  • Thank you to everyone who completed the survey sharing your thoughts if the HPPH moves us from Orange to Red.  Almost 70% of you wish to see players participating safely in on ice activities whatever that may look like with new protocols.  Happily, we are still in Orange and our plan is to set a schedule for the remainder of the season that sees a blend of practice and modified game play with other associations in our Health Unit jurisdiction.
  • IF we are moved to Red, modified game play will stop. We will return to a “skills and drills” focus and reduce our on ice numbers to 8 players and 2 coaches per booking. Shared ice will cease at that point too following the mandates of HPPH, the PRC, Ringette Ontario and the province. Groups will rotate through our ice slots in an equitable fashion based on numbers. We understand the challenges of the uncertainty as we all have players on the ice too. If you need some support, please reach out.
  • IF we are moved to Grey and there is a Provincial shut down, or in the event the Municipality and/or Huron Perth Public Health closes the PRC, prorated refunds will be issued.

Thank you Everyone for all your support!  We are doing our best to ensure our players continue to enjoy the sport they love while doing so in a safe and meaningful way as possible.

Michael
